Alex Sandoval

"Alex stumbled into his local Yoga Pod back in 2014, simply looking for freedom from stress and bad habits that were causing problems in his life. He soon found that the hours he spent on the mat were the best moments of his day, and began attending classes as much as possible and practicing at home when he couldn't make it to the studio. Yoga became his lifeboat during two years of radical personal upheaval and positive transformation, and Alex credits the practice for changing and saving his life. He considers it his life mission to share his passion for the practice with as many people as possible.

Operating from the belief that yoga is an all inclusive source of healing, "If you have breath you belong on the mat", Alex strives to teach classes with an emphasis on self compassion, self study, mindful attention to detail, and a meditative awareness of the link between breath, energetic patterns in the body, and resulting ability to take the yoga out of the studio and live life heart forward. He feels honored, blessed and humbled to be able to teach, and absolutely loves talking about yoga and life with his students."
Allison Brown

Allison Brown

Allison began her training in dance at the young age of three. Ballet/pointe, Contemporary, Jazz and Hip Hop became her passion for 20+ years. After attending Denver School of the Arts in '98 and residing in L.A. to train at The Edge, she moved back home to Colorado and began teaching dance in 2006. Years of competitive dance, performances, putting her body through the ringer and enduring several injuries she feared she would have to put her number one passion, dance behind her. This is when Allison came to find yoga. "Yoga found me. It has healed not only my body but also my mind and spirit". She has found the perfect balance between yoga and dance. Wanting to share all the amazing benefits of yoga, she received her 200 hr. Certification in 2012. Allison now takes yoga, dance and uses it as her therapy. She finds nothing more rewarding than sharing her knowledge with her students and impacting the lives of others!

Danessa Gates

After many years of eating without consequence and living a sedentary lifestyle, I was laid off from my job and something snapped. I knew I needed to make changes so in 2008 I started the Turbo Jam regimen and lost 50 pounds in 5 months.

At my peak, I lost 75 lbs and gained an immense amount of confidence. This prompted me to try group fitness classes; Zumba was my first class. Almost immediately, I decided I wanted to try teaching it and got certified. After about a year, I then bought a Groupon for Yoga classes as well as Enlightenment classes. This was the beginning of a new outlook on life for me. Once I started this journey, I was hooked. After continuing my workout regimen, I decided to get certified to teach Yoga also. Those trainings helped me learn presence, breath work, and internal connection through my practice.

There are many ebbs and flows in life so I try to approach my classes and my students with humbleness and acceptance. We are all going through something, and I want to create a class that gives my students space to unwind, connect, have fun, and know that they are rock stars for making the choice to come. Since moving to Colorado 3 years ago and moving into a Project Management role full-time, I have been teaching yoga and Zumba where I work. My students truly complete a special part of me; I am very grateful. I hope my classes encourage them to develop more self-appreciation, awareness, and internal presence in their practice and I want to convey the same to all the new faces I will meet here at Littleton YP. Please come join the journey!

Teaching yoga has become her inspiration and passion. Her classes are an invitation to be yourself and to create space, grounding, presence and a deeper self connection and awareness.

Heather Kokx
Heather Kokx

Heather Kokx

Heather first began practicing Hot Yoga as a way to help with her lower back problems and quickly fell in love with the simple mind/body connection of the practice. As a Yoga teacher, Heather enjoys the magical aspect of the Hot Yoga pose sequence; how it works the body slowly with the intention to get all the muscles warmed, stretched, and the body in alignment. As a meditation instructor, Heather immediately saw the way Hot Yoga centers the mind and brings a meditative state onto the mat. "Hot Yoga teaches us to become present with our body and mind through our breath. With each pose we breathe through we practice staying grounded, regardless of the intensity of the pose. This is a great tool to take out into the world where stress and chaos challenge us every day." Through her hot yoga classes, Heather loves giving yogis a place to heal the body with each pose while unwinding the mind and learning to breathe again.

Heather is passionate about reunification with our natural world and its wild and organic ways, she firmly believes true health and healing can be found when we reconnect and return to harmony with nature. Heather's mission is to inspire, guide and nurture her students to explore and connect with the beauty of nature within and around us through the practice of yoga and qigong. Heather's knowledge of anatomy and alignment as well as the subtle energy body and the movements of prana/qi, provides a safe, structured environment where one can dive deeper into their practice and their own personal journey to self-healing. Heather enjoys creatively weaving together challenging, holistic, alignment focused practices while humbly striving to hold a safe, supportive environment where her students may be empowered to cultivate self-awareness, return to harmony with the natural flow of life and discover the countless healing benefits of yoga and qigong for themselves.

Heather discovered yoga in her college years, finding it a great antidote to daily stress, as well as the anxiety and depression she had been living with for years. In 2009, when her life seemed to be unraveling at the seams, Heather dove into a devoted daily practice which began to change her life dramatically. She found relief from the chronic pain caused by scoliosis and found improvement in many other health related issues. It was through the practice of yoga that Heather took refuge as her life turned upside down. "Yoga helped me find myself, love myself and become my authentic self, I can't imagine my life without it now." Heather is inspired to continue to step onto her mat day after day to keep her body and mind healthy and happy and to continue to grow and evolve spiritually. "Yoga has taught me how to navigate the ups and downs of life, how to live consciously rather than reactively and how to listen to my body and truly care for myself."

Heather completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in Boulder Colorado at the Yoga Pod in 2012 and went on to study at the Colorado School of Yoga, completing her 300 hour training in 2016. Heather has also studied Qigong and Energy-Body Healing with Damaris Jarboux at The Center Place in Boulder, Colorado. Heather teaches Qigong meditation, practices energy-body work and often infuses her knowledge of the energy body into her Vinyasa, Yin and Gentle yoga classes. Heather's vision is for all of humanity to live consciously from heart center, in harmony with nature, and in community rich in health, support, connection and love.

Jen Capps

Jen was initially drawn to the practice of Yoga as an enjoyable form of exercise. But it wasn't long before the many layers of benefit the practice offers became apparent to her. Through her practice, Jen found her own path of healing and wholeness, and began to feel more at home in her own body, mind, and heart. Through the physical, practical and spiritual teachings of yoga, she also found the means to begin healing from the anxiety and depression that had been part of her life for so long. Because of the profound shift yoga created in her own life, Jen is dedicated to guiding and supporting any who step onto this path of wholeness.

Jen draws much inspiration from the inherent and profound simplicity of the practice itself, of uniting the breath and the body to create sensitivity and awareness. She believes deeply that the practice has something to offer absolutely everyone who seeks it, without exclusion.
Offering intentional instruction, Jen seeks to challenge her students on every level, physical, mental, emotional. She believes personal transformation and healing occurs when we explore our boundaries, through awareness and sensitivity, while at the same time, embracing ourselves just as we are, in each moment. Through practice, we each have the potential to gain insight and deep knowledge of Self, and to connect to greater truth and universal wisdom.

Jen is dedicated to her own continuing growth and development. Her teaching is a part of her own practice; she learns as much from her students as from her many, wise teachers, and believes that her own yoga journey will be lifelong and endless. She is a passionate student of the ageless wisdom of the practice, and intends to always be a seeker of wisdom and knowledge. Initially trained in the Ashtanga Vinyasa style of practice, Jen now holds over 700 hours of training. She regularly instructs students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability. Shannon Scott
Shannon Scott

Shannon Scott

Seven years ago Shannon's yoga journey began in her friend's basement. Her friend was a yoga teacher & was trying to get Shannon to start attending classes. Shannon not knowing the basics (or the lingo), not flexible, & having a super chatty mind was terrified to take a class at a studio. Her amazing, patient friend gave her a few basic lessons in her basement to get her started. This was just the tip of the iceberg. Shannon started to attend classes regularly & then signed up for teacher training. Her intention was not to teach, but deepen her own practice. However, after she graduated with her 200 hour RYT she wanted to share yoga with everyone. In 2014, Shannon started teaching classes regularly. She cannot wait to be a part of your yoga journey. Shannon's classes are laid back - be prepared to stretch & flow & maybe even laugh along the way.

When Shannon is not yoga-ing you can find her spending time with her husband. They enjoy spending time in the great Colorado outdoors. They also volunteer with PawsCo, a local rescue, fostering dogs.

Shannon cannot wait to meet you on your mat.
